Affectionately called Mama Christine by everyone at Musana, Christine is the mother hen of the group. Her joyful attitude and uninhibited affection towards others always raises everyone's spirits. Christine is 56 years old and is a mother of five. She was raised by her stepmother in Kanungu, an area near Uganda's border with the Democratic Republic of Congo, Christine dropped out of school to help her family at age thirteen. By sixteen she was pregnant with her first child and relocated to Lugazi in southern Uganda looking for better job prospects.
Through hard work and dedication to their schooling, all of Christine's children were able to attend school. Christine is so proud that her eldest son was the first person in their family to go to university. Through her employment with Musana, Christine is saving for a home of her own where she can provide a better childhood for her granddaughter, Fatia, and finally have some space to call her own.
