Position Summary
Under the guidance of the RN/RPN or another health professional, the Personal Support Worker (PSW) will be part of the health care team, providing quality care for patients and families. This role involves helping patients with daily activities and supporting the overall operation of patient care areas, in line with Quinte Health’s values.
Requirements
- A Personal Support Worker Certificate from an accredited Ontario College program or a PSW Certificate obtained within the past two years, or at least one year of full-time equivalent work experience within the last three years.
- Current CPR or BCLS certification
- Physical ability to handle demanding tasks (Physical Demands Analysis available for review)
Job Duties
- Assist or perform daily activities for patients, such as bathing, dressing, oral care, and personal grooming.
- Follow safety rules and hospital policies.
- Communicate patient information to RN/RPN clearly and promptly.
- Document patient information accurately in health records.
- Support patients’ emotional needs by talking with them, taking walks, and assisting with activities.
- Complete other duties as required.
