Job Summary:

The Kitchen Attendant’s main job is to keep the kitchen clean, wash dishes, clean storerooms, and handle waste management in the kitchen area.

Organizational Status:

The Kitchen Attendant reports to the Sous Chef and works alongside other Food Services staff, taking daily direction from the First Cook.

Work Performed:

  • Keep the kitchen clean and organized.
  • Wash dishes and kitchen tools.
  • Clean and maintain the storerooms.
  • Manage waste in the kitchen.
  • Train new Kitchen Attendants as needed.
  • Perform other related tasks as required.

Consequence of Error/Judgement:

If the kitchen is not properly maintained, it could lead to unhygienic conditions and possible fines from the Health Board. Improper food storage or handling may cause food waste, lost resources, and added costs.

Supervision Received:

Reports to the Sous Chef and follows daily instructions from the First Cook.

Supervision Given:

This position does not involve supervising others.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completed Grade 10 or equivalent.
  • Food Safe Level 1 Certificate.
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
