Job Description

The Housekeeping Aide/Cleaner at BC Cancer in Vancouver plays a vital role in keeping the facility clean and safe, which is important for patient safety. This job includes various cleaning tasks to maintain a healthy environment, following safety regulations and department standards.

What You’ll Do:

  • Clean and maintain floors, entrances, lobbies, elevators, stairways, walls, windows, and walkways.
  • Use methods like dusting, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, waxing, and removing waste.
  • Disinfect areas such as walls, doors, mirrors, light fixtures, and air vents.
  • Move furniture and equipment as needed.
  • Clean carpets and rugs by vacuuming and shampooing.
  • Clean and sanitize washrooms and restock items like soap and towels.
  • Make beds and clean cupboards, lockers, and tables.
  • Remove trash from different areas and manage biomedical waste.
  • Report any damage or issues to the Supervisor.
  • Clear snow from entrances.
  • Maintain cleaning equipment and respond to emergency cleaning needs.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 10 education or equivalent experience.
