There is a days button and a time button. Press either button to wake up the device.
Press the days button to cycle through the options for the interval (the repeat time): HH means every 12 hours, 1 means every day, 2 means every 2 days and so on up to a max of 10.
Press the time button to cycle through the watering duration. Each click adds a second. After 20 seconds, each press add 5 seconds up to 90 seconds. After that, you get H1 meaning 2 minutes. Then H2 meaning 3 minutes. Then it will go back to zero. If you press and hold the time button, it will step through the duration settings quickly so you don't have to do a bunch of clicks to cycle back around.
Once you have programmed it, it will run the cycle almost right away.
When it is running, clicking either button will stop it.
If you want to force it to run, click either button to wake it up and then do a long press on the days button. A long press on the time button will change the duration instead of starting the cycle. That's why the long press has to be on the days button.
If you have the end of the outlet hose lower than the water level in the water source, then it will keep siphoning the water out after the the pump stops running. I'm actually using this as a self-starting siphon to suck water out of the drip-catcher pan for my water heater while I'm going away for a while. It has a very slow leak, and I'm deciding on a tankless system to replace it. So for me, this siphoning effect is a "feature." But you probably want it to stop flowing water when the pump shuts off, so make sure the water source is lower than your plants.
Set up: After testing, I found I wasn’t getting the 20ml/s flow through the drip spikes. It appears the spikes restrict flow too much. In a moment of clarity, I removed the drip spikes ( pulled them from tubes) and used them to simply hold the tubes in place in the pot ( ran tubes through the circle in top of spikes). Device setup was no problem. Read the manual. I’ve read complaints about attaching tubes to 4-way splitters - while it was a bit of an effort to get them attached, it was by no mean’s insurmountable. And they didn’t leak and stayed attached.
I would recommend testing to fine tune your water volume delivery. The drip spikes may work well for smaller plants. After I returned from vacation, I continued to use the pumps for two more weeks to test battery life. My settings were water every other day for 90 seconds and each pump still had power after 3 weeks of running at this setting. Neither indicated low charge.
Additionally, I had a last minute question for Doubfivsy. My water reservoirs were limited in size, and I left on a Sunday morning. I wanted to water the plants manually before I left, in order to save reservoir water for use while I was away so, I didn’t want the pumps to start running right after I set the settings. Fortunately, you can hit any button to stop the current watering cycle after initially setting the timings. The pumps will still follow the schedule after stopping them. Thanks to DOUBFIVSY for quickly answering my question. The pumps worked well.
Finally, while this product my not have some features of other products, I found it met my needs perfectly and was an excellent value. I would definitely recommend this product to others. I strongly recommend reading the manual and testing your specific situation to fine tune your setup.
Very happy customer!
It took me a second to figure it out, but overall for the money it works well!
The pump is not super quiet, but I like that because it reminds me that it’s working. You can set it up to pump at different times and control how much water is pumped.
I tested it over the course of three days and never had any issues! I would recommend it to my friends
